The name “Byel Byel Stage” (A Stage for Every Star) evokes the images of stars twinkling in the sky and encounters with
the glitter of all kinds of performing arts and artists, a forum to exchange thoughts and communicate with other users.

How to Request Archival Materials

You should register as a member on the NTOK homepage and log in to make a request for copying materials or visiting to view the materials at the Archive.

Request to visit the Archive Reading Room to view materials

To visit the Performing Arts Archive to view materials, first make a reservation on the website or by phone prior to your visit.

_ Qualified Users: Open to the public
_ Quantity: Publications and uploaded materials may be freely viewed without limitation. Requests to view archival materials are limited to five items at a time.

Requests to Copy Materials

In accordance with internal regulations, which allow copying only for public and nonprofit use of materials, copies of digital materials will be provided only to those who have acquired permission from the National Theater of Korea. (Regulations on copying, reading and borrowing archival materials, Museum of Performing Arts) To make a request for copying archival materials, please contact us after locating what you are looking for on the website.
※ Even if you are eligible subject to make a request, your request will be denied if you do not have an appropriate purpose for using the archival materials.

_ Eligible Applicants: Public Organizations, Educational Institutions, Academic Institutions, Research Organization, Media Outlets, holders of copyrights (performers, etc)

Donation of Materials

The Museum of Performing Arts invites you to donate your precious materials about the performing arts to that the moving stories they hold can be shared with a wider audience. Donated materials will become part of the permanent collection of the Museum of Performing Arts and will be used for research and archive services.

_Examples of Materials :
Performing arts materials from anywhere in the world :Letters, notes, photographs, music scores and choreography notes, programs, flyers, posters, videos, audio recordings, scrapbooks, etc.

Issue Certification of Donation Cataloguing and use of materials

_Donation Restrictions :
Materials cannot be accepted if there is any potential conflict regarding the ownership, copyright or sensitive content in the materials. Also, items which are already in the collection or those which do not hold sufficient value with regards to the collection’s purpose will not be accepted.
- Use of donated materials :
Donated materials will be permanently preserved and used not only for conservation and developings of the performing arts but also for research and academic purposes, publications, exhibition and online data service.

Should I register as a member to use the platform?
You do not have to register as a member and log in to access the general contents of the platform to conduct searches and read the data about the archive materials. However, once you are registered as a member, you can collect and save data from your searches in My Archive (on My Page) and write posts in the Forum.
How can I register as a member?
There are two kinds of memberships: Public memberships and Performing Artist memberships. Anyone can register for a Public membership. for Performing arts producers, artists, staff and researchers can register for Performing Artist memberships. If you are a National Theater of Korea (NTOK) member you can log in and use the platform with an integrated account. Before signing up for a Performing Artist membership, you should register as a National Theater of Korea member.
How can I cancel my membership?
Log in to the platform, go to My Page, and click on [Cancel Membership]
How Can I use resources on the platform?
Enter a keyword to search for information about a performance or performing artist and browse the archival materials. Click on the items in the list of results to access them.
What kind of resources are [Online Materials]?
[Online Materials] are materials that have been digitalized, adjusted on the web environment and stored to be conveniently read and viewed online.
What kind of resources are labeled [Open Access]?
[Open Access] materials are materials in the collections of the Museum of Performing Arts that have been approved for public access. Many of them have been digitalized and are accessible on the platform. However, there are also items which have not yet been digitalize, so even though they are marked [Open Access] they are not yet ready for viewing.
What are resources marked [Visit]?
Materials marked [Visit] can only be viewed by visiting Museum of Performing Arts in person because of copyrights regulations. For your convenience, please contact us and make an appointment prior to your visit. (Contact : Performance Materials 02-2280-5834 / Publications 02-2280-4025–6)
Where is the Museum of Performing Arts?
The Museum of Performing Arts is located at 59 Jangchungdan-ro, Jung-gu, Seoul, within the same complex as the The National Theater of Korea. A map and detailed location information is given in the part of the platform labeled [How to Get Here]
What are the operating hours of the Museum of Performing Arts?
The Museum of Performing Arts is open from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on weekdays. Keep in mind that the museum is closed on weekends and public holidays and during the lunch hour.
How can I copy archive materials?
Copying of materials is limited by regulations and is restricted to those to be used for to public and non-commercial purposes. If you wish to copy archive materials, please search and locate what you are looking for on the platform first. Once you find the materials, you should contact us with reference codes to confirm whether the material is permissible to copy.
